Emergency Order of Protection Articles and Resources

An Emergency Order of Protection is a court order that is typically obtained during an ex parte hearing, where the other side is not present.  EOPs are limited in duration and are usually followed by a Plenary hearing.

You can request an Emergency Order of Protection by filing a petition yourself, working with local domestic violence resources such as the Family Peace Center, who can assist you, or hiring an Order of Protection attorney.

If you are served with an EOP, it is critical that you comply with the terms of the order and appear at the ordered court date and time.  You should also consider scheduling an attorney consultation to learn more about your rights and how the EOP may affect your life and your job.
